Laura graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a BA and earned a JD from UC Law SF. Since graduating from law school in 1998, she has practiced primarily in the area of public interest law, working for nonprofits and government agencies, typically on behalf of clients who have been historically underrepresented. Laura has a special interest in child welfare law.

In 2010, when her children were 7 and 10, Laura was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She is still grateful for the guidance and support she received in the early days of her diagnosis, through a support group run by fellow board member, Carol. Laura is proud to be on BCOT's board as she strongly believes in promoting breast cancer prevention outreach and research and knows firsthand how vital a support group can be to navigating every phase of treatment.
